Both fit into Trump’s preferred aesthetic (complete with what has been derisively termed “Republican makeup”) but they are actually embodying two different visions of conservative femininity, writes correspondent Constance Grady. Noem likes to don military tactical gear to accompany her full face of glam and signature brunette locks as she touts Trump’s spree of lawless deportations. Leavitt prefers a softer look, with soft blonde waves and form-fitting suits, even as she berates reporters from her podium. What is each woman trying to communicate with her aesthetic choices?
