In January, StraighterLine's CEO, Burck Smith, presented at
the Council for Higher Education Accreditors' (CHEA) annual conference in
Washington DC about the emergence of "alternative credit"
providers, the providers themselves, the regulatory landscape and the
Department of Education's EQUIP experimental site.

Excelsior College President John Ebersole, in a recent
Forbes article, named StraighterLine Founder & CEO as one of higher
education's Top 10 Influencers of 2015. The article remarks that Burck,
as well as StraighterLine, represents "the 'face' of 'good'
proprietary education" in the changing landscape of the industry.
StraighterLine recently announced the launch of two new
online college courses-Information Technology Fundamentals and Survey
of World History-bringing the total number of offerings to sixty. Like
all StraighterLine courses, these have received full credit
recommendation from the American Council on Education (ACE).
Every student who transfers to your college or university
from StraighterLine will have successfully completed general education
courses--an achievement recognized as the biggest predictor of a
student's future academic persistence and success.
